Yo whats good bro? Can
you just tell us a bit about yourself, background and all that?
Alright , my real name is Ifeanyi Okoli , first
boy from a family of 6 . 2 younger brothers and 3 elder sisters to a single mom
.
So when, where and
how exactly did you start doing music?
Started music when I was 10 , was in the drama
department in church as a kid , wasn't in the choir but I was always selected
to Rap Kirk Franklin songs during presentations in church . Then junior high ,
rap battles with my mates till I was 15 when I met Chordratic beats and music
started professionally for me.
So what exactly has
kept going up the ladder, motivating you and all that stuff?
Oh yeah , God has been the no 1 factor in my life
. And my Mom is always there to motivate and encourage me .
How then did you come
about the name “Haywire”?
Lool the way I got the name is crazy , don't
laugh please , back in senior high during english class we wher all using our
dictionaries for some topic that I can't remember ,I was particularly looking
for a word then I came across 'Haywire' ,. wrote it down in my note , something
led to another but my mates started calling me that .Lool I've always been a
crazy guy so I guess the name fits me perfectly
Are there any
challenges that have been slowing you down one way or the other, or something
you just feel has been like a burden to you so far?
Oh yeah , finance and sponsorship has always been
the problem , still is . But God got me
And has your mom been in full of support of you all the way?
My mom has never ranted against my music before,
she's always been supporting right from the time she heard my first song .
She'd wake me up really early to go to studio ,She's amazing
So what exactly are
your plans and how do you intend to influence the industry at large?
Well , I have alot of plans but I'd rather watch
em materialize than spill em out now ..
I mean! You have one
of the largest fan base as an upcoming act, like whats the secret to that? I’m
tryna say like your music has this quality sound, a lot of people eventually
gets to hear it and um, I think generally your sound and music seems to be
really satisfying and circulates pretty well, How do you do that?
Lool thanks for the compliments. Large fan base?
Me ? Ah osheyy . There's really no secret just work hard and pray always . I
listen to alot of music and I focus on perfecting my craft and making great
sounds ,the way it circulates is all on God not me
Then I can recall you
being signed to Chord-Nation sometimes back with Chordratic, But now we only
hear about “Finger-Prints”. What’s up with that too?
Chord Nation is a family to us , but we doing our
own thing independently now which is FingerPrintz its sorta like a fam thing
since we was little , we just think its the right time to publicize it , but we
still cool with Chord Nation
So now you gonna help
us out with a few listings, First of all um…. What artistes or producers have
been really glad to work with over time since you got into this game?
For producers I'd say Chordratic beats is the
best I've ever worked with , BBJN , K9 mixes my jams he's amazing .Alot of
other dope producers . Then artists in no particular order Epiq , Jeffrey
Benson , Pro , Landers , 9ytro , J.I , P.W, Nicotine , Rere . All great talents
And which of the top
music icons “In Nigeria” would be
looking forward to working with as time goes on?
Would love to work with M.I , Sinzu , Jagz ,
Naeto C , Burna boy , Wande coal , Yung L etc
How about
Internationally? Lol! Like who do you fvck with, could be who you listen to, or
would love to work with?
Lool I think I'm Eminem's biggest fan , Chris
brown too . I fuck with artists like J.Cole , Logic , Slaughterhouse , Jon
Connor , Johnny rain , Hopsin , HS87, PND , Angel .etc
Okay…. Then is there
any artiste you feel might be a threat to your position at the moment.
Lool Naa , the only competition I see are the
niggas in FingerPrintz tbh
You have dropped
quite a lot of songs so far, should we be expecting a package soon? Sorta’ like
a mixtape or something?
Yh of course , really sorry for taking so long to
drop a compilation , but I've got a mixtape I'm working on called 'Listen' .
I've dropped a couple of jams from it already , the full tape will be dropping
soon . Track List will be released soon too .
Yeah so, you’re presently in Unilag right? Uhm! How exactly have you been able to balance up School and Music at the same time?

My school is very social so its quit easy to
juggle music with my studies . So far it hasn't been a challenge atall
What do you feel about
the current state of the nigerian underground music at large, is there anything
that irritates you or something that is quite pleasing?
The thing is you get to hear the realest songs in
the underground scene , but basically support from the top artists is always a
problem , they feel they aint on the same level with the underground dudes
irrespective of how good the artist is , that's bad . Nothing pleasing so far ,
but we stay positive and do what we got to do .
Anyone of the
upcoming acts you pay your respect to, probably in terms quality and all that?
Yh of course , Yaylow
, LOS and Ozzy .
How about producers?
BBJN , Banky , GMK
Oh cool! Can you
brief us a little bit more about RealTalk? what do you guys do, how you
function and all that?
Real Talk Clothing is a Clothing line owned by my
Cousin Foken , its a family business . Me and Pro market here in Nigeria , we
have outlets in UK and malaysia . Spreading to other countries soon . With time
well have Real Talk ent for entertainment generally not just clothing .
Great! So is there
anything we should be expecting from you pretty soon? Any surprise…. (Don’t
bother saying what it is exactly, just an idea)
For now keep expecting good music , couple of
internet videos to be released soon . My mix tape 'Listen' . Pro's tape 'Daddy
Know's Best'. There should be a joint Compilation from us both along the way or
FingerPrintz . We out here .
